Skylights – also known as rooflights - are a great way of allowing light into a property. Skylights provide the most cost effective method of introducing daylight and life into the dullest of rooms, and are virtually maintenance free.
Built using a high-tech glazing product and strong aluminium, Apropos’ skylights are self-supporting and are unrivalled for style, strength and durability; looking beautiful in any home.
Skylights brighten up any room, allowing natural air and light to flood in during warm months, and heat to be retained and light to enter during colder months via a highly efficient skylight energy system.
The skylight energy system combines exceptional use of technology in both the skylights’ glazing and the skylights’ aluminium structure. Apropos employs superior double glazing technology for all its skylights, in order to achieve and better current regulations, and provide exceptional efficiency ratings (U-values).
Similarly, Apropos’ aluminium structure for its skylights is ‘thermally broken’ by a polyamide strip to achieve similar results. This strip isolates the internal aluminium extrusion of the skylights from the external extrusion of the skylights. In doing so, it restricts heat from escaping out via the aluminium structure of the skylights; thereby substantially improving the energy efficiency of the skylights and helping the skylights comply with the highest standards.
Additionally, the vents on skylights can be controlled either manually or electrically, allowing homeowners to cater for differences in inside temperature and outside weather; letting in a light summer breeze and keeping out a cold winter frost.
As a result of Apropos’ thorough energy efficiency standards, their skylights ensure that the environment remains at an optimum level in homes once they are installed.
Skylights can be supplied hipped or with glazed gables. Hipped gables lean in towards the middle of skylights, whilst glazed gables stand upright at 90 degree angles.
Skylights also perfectly complement folding sliding doors, which work in unison with skylights to provide homes with increased light.
"Apropos’ skylights are perfectly complemented by folding sliding doors," explains Gary Shaw. "The combination of rooflights and folding sliding doors is one that more and more homeowners are choosing. Together, rooflights and folding sliding doors make a perfect pair."
